This therapeutic horsemanship program provides youth with equine education, positive social relationships, mentorship, and beginner riding, groundwork, & equine care skills.
Youth build trust, confidence, self-awareness, and gain new perspectives through meaningful relationships with horses, peers, & facilitators.
For Calgary youth experiencing adversity related to mental health, socioeconomic barriers, or difficulty in school, home, or care.
Participants build a strong bond with the horses. This connection breaks down barriers and helps youth feel safe, loved, and accepted unconditionally by another living being.
Horses mirror our behaviour and emotional energies and provide immediate responses.
Horses' direct feedback helps youth learn resiliency, acceptance of varying situations, and gives them experience navigating changes in their environment. Participants leave with more tools to regulate their own emotions.
Learning about our own presence and relevance to the response of the horse leads to personal awareness and leadership.
This program fosters self-awareness, reflection and mindfulness. These sessions provide a safe environment for self-exploration.
